The following details form
the contract between the “student”, as written below and “Language
Link London” to form part of your educational placement in the UK.
In addition to this contract your contract, whether written or
verbal, will apply with your host company under normal UK employment
Law.
From hereon the person who
agrees to and signs the contract below, shall be known for the
purposes of this contract as the “student” and “Language Link
London” shall be know as “LL”.
1. LL Agrees:
To
provide the student with:
1.1 An
adequate internship placement as agreed on the “Placement
confirmation” and that all details agreed on the documentation will
be accurate and appropriate
1.2 A
host company that falls under the area of work that the candidate
reasonably requests on their application
1.3 A
service so that the student may contact LL in case of any problems
arising from their internship placement. The student may contact LL
to discuss any such problems and LL will assist in rectifying any
such problems as agreed with the host work placement and the student
1.4 An
alternative internship placement should the candidate find the
placement unsuitable (up to half way through their placement) and
not what was reasonably agreed on and confirmed by the student in
the form of the “Placement Confirmation”
1.5 Monitoring
and assessment of the student whilst they are at their host work
placement and provide the student with full reports on their
progress at the reasonable request of the student and at the end of
their placement
1.6 Fair
and responsible treatment at all times
1.7
A second interview if the first
suitable interview was not successful
1.8 The
possibility of a 3rd interview only if the work placement
sector chosen permits this. A 3rd interview is not
guaranteed and is at the discretion of Language Link.
2.
LL does not agree to:
2.1 Find
an alternative placement for the student should the student
employment be terminated due to the student not performing their job
as the employer requests
2.2 Assist
in any matters of Work Permits, Registration or any other such legal
documents other than to notify the student via its agents the
details of such documents
2.3 Assist
in any issues regarding the breaking of any UK Laws and any
consequences resulting from this
2.4 Assist
in any legal matters in connection with the internship placement,
accommodation, police, legal courts and any other such legal matters
2.5 Provide
any medical assistance
3. The student
agrees:
3.1 To accept the placement arranged if it complies
with the placement requested
3.2
To follow and agree to the rules of their internship placement
and adjust to UK manners and culture to the best of their
ability
3.3
To correspond any problems whilst they are in the UK with LL
3.4
Not to invite any 3rd party to their host work
placement, unless the 3rd party has been agreed by
and placed via LL and the student’s agent in their country of
origin
3.5
To adjust to the host company’s reasonable needs should the host
company require
3.6
To adjust to the company’s needs should the host company feel
that you are not suitable for the original job
that you were employed to do and accept an alternative offer of
employment by such host companies; this
will include reasons such as low level of English
3.7 Not
to behave in such a way that results in criminal activity or
breaks UK law in any way
3.8 To
complete all evaluations or documents as required by LL.
3.9 Not
to provide any false or wilfully inaccurate documents to LL at
any time including in the form of a Curriculum Vitae
3.10 To
treat all people with respect at all times regardless of sex,
race, sexual orientation, religion, social
background or any such group
3.11 Not
to leave a host company unless it is the end of your contractual
period with such a company unless
otherwise agreed with LL.
3.12 To
the following cancellation fees: £50 for any accepted booking up
to 2 weeks prior to placement
commences and £100 cancellation thereafter. Once an interview has been
arranged but not yet attended the
cancellation fee will be £150. Cancellation after a successful interview
will require full payment
3.13 To
pay in full after 2 suitable interviews have been attended,
whatever the outcome
To
pay a reduced fee of £150 if a 1st suitable interview
was not successful and a further interview is not available
within the chosen field (In the case of more specialised fields.
4.
The Agent (if relevant)
4.1 The
Agent agrees to inform and explain all conditions as set out by this
contract to the student, but is not formally or informally
responsible for any sections of this agreement. The agent merely
acts as a 3rd party explaining the above terms and
conditions, is authorised to witness this contract and sign below to
confirm the acceptance and signature of this. The Agent is governed
by a separate contract, which has no consequence to the student.
Further Notes
Failure of the student to
comply with any of the above conditions under Section 3 could result
in the termination of any involvement between LL and the student and
payment to be ordered against the student as a result of the breech
of section 3.4.
The aim of a work placement
is to provide a student with an experience in an English speaking
professional environment in which they can practise professional
English language skills. Students must note that they cannot expect
to do technical or highly responsible work. Language Link’s
primary purpose is to provide an experience of working in a UK
company, using English language skills acquired. It is not a
training programme or career recruitment programme.
The student is and agrees to
be governed by UK employment law within their host work placement.
The student agrees to abide with the above terms and conditions. By
signing this agreement this confirms their acceptance of this. In
addition LL accepts all its responsibilities as set out under
section 1.
Language Link London has no
liability beyond the level of fees received for work placement
services.
